Capon Road Station/Mile 49.3
The backside of the Capon Road station. Passengers would load into carriages for the trip to Capon Resort near Wardensville, WV. (May 10, 2014)
CSX D796 is west passing the station in March 1996. At the time this photo was taken the station was still being used as a residence. Notice the station sidetrack still remained in the ground in this photo, I'm not sure if the track still remain today. Next we are again looking railroad east from the tracks at Capon Road station, same as the first photo. (March 1996 and May 10, 2014)
A trackside view and closeup of the corner of the station where it appears to have been set fire at one time. I hope whomever did this was caught because this is such an old station and could be restored. (May 10, 2014)
Two view which would be the left and right of the stations back side away from the tracks. The interior today is leftover from the station being used as a postal office then residence after the railroad discontinued use of the station. (May 10, 2014).
A view upstairs from the rotting steps, then looking out the side door. (May 10, 2014)
CSX 2206 has just crossed Rt.55(Capon Road) andvis about to pass the station in the late 1990's. The original station sat to the left of the tracks. Second photo we see the same location but on May 10, 2014.
CSX 2200 brings a train east along the new siding between Capon Road and the Interstate 81 overpass. (1990's)
