Borden Yard, Lower Switchback/C14.3

Looking west in Lower Switchback also known as Borden Yard. (1968, Don Biggs photo)

Looking at the lower switchback and at a office/station of some sort that once stood here. (thanks to Don Biggs for the photo)

The C&P lower switchback at Borden Yard. The tracks to the right with the guard rail in the track is the mailine up the mountain to Frostburg and Peidmont, WV. The track to the left runs to Zihlman and onto Cumberland. (1968, Don Biggs photo) I took a photo at the same location on July 14, 2012. Hard to do with all the trees and so much growth with the tracks only being pulled on in the early 1990's.

The C&P's lower switchback and Borden Yard. This photo was taken in early 1988 by Al Moran. I took a photo at the same location on 7-14-12. My photo is looking in the opposite direction but you ca about place where from by the buried cable markers in both photos.

Looking up the grade from the road crossing between the first and second switchback. This is the C&P crossing of New Hope Road, just west around the bend from Borden Yard. (1968, Don Biggs photo/7-14-12)

Looking down grade from the New Hope Road crossing in 1968 and again in 2012. (1968, Don Biggs photo/7-14-12)
